Tandoori Palace

Finding ourselves on Commercial Drive after work we decided to get a quick bite to eat and headed over to the Tandoori Palace 1439 Commercial Drive .  Having been here before we knew that the food is good and very reasonable. Previously we had been two of the only customers early on Friday night, but today the place was packed.  Undeterred we put in our order, butter chicken with rice and Chicken tikka with Naan.  We grabbed one of the two tables outside and watched the drive go by.

They have a Tandoori oven at the front of the shop which allows them to make authentic Naan bread, in my experience the best in Vancouver, but I would love to hear of others. The food arrived in a very reasonable time and the chicken Tikka was wonderfully flavourful and fresh if a little salty and a rather frightening red colour.  The butter chicken was really not so good, but I suspect butter chicken is not a particularly authentic Indian dish, and is only on the menu to cater to those unfamiliar with Indian food.

Any way the food for both of us was only $24.00 including HST and tip.  You can not complain at that and I would certainly recommend Tandoori Palace to anyone who wants a quick good and cheap meal.
